Featured Artisan

I studied art at Pennant Hills High School and this put me on my artistic path. Having a mother who could draw and a father who was trained as a signwriter I believe was also a great influence.

I had no “formal education” as a painter, I studied at Hazelhurst Regional Art Gallery & Art Centre, Mitchell School of Arts and participated in many workshops organised by various Sydney Art Societies.

I started painting in acrylics but soon moved on to watercolour and this has become my first love. This doesn’t mean that doesn’t mean I don’t use other mediums and often turn out an interesting Mixed Media Work I have taught many workshops in NSW: Bathurst, Wagga Wagga, Batemans Bay to name a few and at my own Studio, Now is the Time.

In Sydney I exhibited at Oatley 101 Art Show, Sutherland Shire Art Society Show, Como Art Show, Watercourse at the Botanical Gardens and at the Royal Easter Show.

Since moving to Port Stephens, I have exhibited in the Medowie Art Show and the Lemon Tree Passage Art Show, at the Newcastle Botanical Gardens, Dungog Art Society, Newcastle and Dungog Shows and have been the Featured Artist at the Tilligerry Art Group Gallery.

I consider teaching the most exciting part of my painting career “so many times I have heard the words “I can’t draw a stick figure or I’m not artistic”. It is simply not true and when you see the excitement and pleasure on a student’s face because they found they can paint, the reward is huge.

I now paint mainly for my own pleasure and teach only the occasional workshop for local art groups.
