About Kerri

After completing a Graphic Design Course at Randwick TAFE, at 18, my first job was as an artist’s assistant to Ken Done; fast forward 37 years, with a 20 year career in advertising as a graphic designer and illustrator and with my children now grown, I made the decision to take up painting full time 8 years ago, 5 of those spent living and immersing myself in the Sydney art scene.

I now paint from my home studio on the NSW Central Coast. My current still life works are inspired by romantic notions, poetry, music, my organic garden, lost and found treasures, storytelling, texture, pattern, glass and metallic objects. An intuitive painter and mostly self-taught, working across mediums of watercolour, gouache and oils, and with a strong foundation in drawing, my paintings are loose with bold marks and broad brush strokes, creating a seemingly detailed rendering. Some marks appear unfinished; however, these add to the importance of the composition and are thoughtfully left.

Great artists that inspire me include Margaret Woodward, Pierre Bonnard, Edouard Vuillard and Matisse.

I have travelled Australia extensively and continue exploring and gathering material and inspiration, reflected in my work. I have exhibited in a number of solo and group exhibitions. My work can be found in public and private collections both internationally and nationally.
